Alexei Bogatov

Alexei is currently working with us as an Expert Advisor, primarily focused on building major event tactical planning and delivery business development. He is supporting all major events and related projects in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. His work spans strategic planning, operational readiness, operational delivery and stakeholder coordination across multiple international sporting and cultural events.

As part of his work at CAA Portas, he has been delivering turnkey readiness programmes, including for the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 in Jeddah. He has also led the central planning stream for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 and contributed to the development of technical manuals for the Saudi Games. In addition, Alexei has supported the creation of a proposal to assist the Moroccan Football Federation in preparation for the 2030 World Cup. His responsibilities have included work on multiple RFPs and RFIs related to major events and their organisers.

Previously, Alexei worked at Organising Committees of the Olympic Games, FIFA World Cups, and EXPO events in senior management roles. In these roles, he managed contracts with operational budgets exceeding 50 million USD, led teams ranging from 5 to 150 employees, and oversaw operations across up to 14 venues during the Olympic Games. He led selection of 101 training sites for the FIFA World Cup 2018, delivered 7 operations control centres and facilitated over 50 readiness exercises at more than 10 major events.

Academically, he studied Linguistics at Tula State Pedagogical University and completed a Master’s in Sport Events Management at Leeds Beckett University. He has also undertaken professional development through Lean Six Sigma, PMP certification, and courses from Harvard Business School online. Alexei developed and led the Major Sports Event Management course for the members of the Association for international sport for all (TAFISA) and led delivery of two courses with a team of 7 lecturers.
