David van Tongeren

David van Tongeren is a Senior Commercial Accountant working with us at CAA Portas, based in London and supporting global operations. His role involves close finance business partnering with stakeholders at all levels to identify strategic investment opportunities and improve operational efficiency. 

Before joining CAA Portas, David spent seven years in commercial finance roles at British Airways, the NHS, and a private equity-backed insurance software organisation. In these roles, he focused on financial planning, investment appraisal, and performance improvement initiatives.

Between finance roles, David was commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and served for three years as an Infantry team leader in the British Army. His leadership experience in high-pressure environments has informed his approach to managing complex financial projects.

David holds a First Class BSc in Accounting and Finance from Bournemouth University and is a fully qualified member of CIMA. Outside of work, he actively participates in football and regularly takes part in running and cycling events. He recently completed an unsupported cycle from John O’Groats to Land’s End, demonstrating his commitment to endurance and personal challenge.
